Is Norton Internet Security really that bad?

I read a lot of answers that say that Norton is crap, is it really so? Because I just got norton Internet Security 2008 and seems to work fine on my computer.

Be advised that Norton is the worst anti-virus product ever made. Norton is more like a virus and a huge resource hog. It is notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans. The software will do more harm to your PC than good and when you try to remove it, it leaves behind over 375 traces in your registry files/folders and subsystem. This software is so awful you have to download a removal tool to get the majority of the entires out of your machine. You are much better off with a free anti-virus product.

Yes it is crap sorry to say as you will see in time.
It's horrible...I used to have it...and when we got our computer cleaned there were two thousand viruses/adware/spyware on it...literally.
Do bears deposit land mines in the woods? Back when "Norton" meant Peter Norton himself, Norton was good stuff. Now that "Norton" means "Symantec", it's become the most intrusive memory hog on modern systems. There are spyware programs and viruses that I'd rather have than Norton. What's even worse about Norton is that you have to actually PAY to get it, which is a travesty, considering the fact that there are free solutions that work better, with less overhead levied against processing and RAM, available.
