Can your computer work ok with just windows firewall and a free security AVG? Do you need a stronger firewall then windows firewall? my friends computer is slow and she just has those on her computer along with adware se personal is her computer safe enough to use on the internet with just that security and spyware protection?

To be sure that your computer is OK you need :

1. Firewall

2. Antivirus software

3. A program for eliminating spyware

You can get all that from a single program or different ones.

I use Zone alarm suite because it has them all and my computer works fine.

The only disadvantage of the Windows Firewall is that it doesn't block any outgoing traffic, unlike the free Zonealarm firewall. If you have a trojan installed on your computer, it will still be able to access the Internet because it's outgoing traffic in the eyes of Windows Firewall. However it surely gives you good protection against web attacks.
